We’ll Keep Showing Up

Thursday night’s game against Assumption was a hard one. This season has brought challenges on so many fronts—the transition to a new division, a long list of injuries, and the demands of finding a way forward together. We know how much these young men put into this game, and it hurts to see their hard work met with so much adversity.

But there were moments that meant a great deal. Seeing some of our injured players return to the field, doing what they love and playing with heart, was one of them. There is so much we cannot fix for our boys, but we can keep showing up and reminding them that they have a whole community behind them.

After the game, we got to do just that.

Thanks to our generous families and everyone who helped, each player received his own pizza, a turkey sub, fruit, chips, Powerbeats, and drinks. The team meal was beyond successful—and spending that time with our players made it even more meaningful.

The thank-yous. The smiles. The conversations. Even after such a difficult night, these young men were polite, engaging, and thoughtful. “Appreciative” simply doesn’t do them justice. They made sure we knew how much it meant to them, and we hope they felt how much they mean to us.

As parents and families, we wish we could make the hard parts easier. We can’t change what happened on the field or take away the disappointment. But we can make sure they leave knowing they are cared for, supported, and loved.

To our Hawks: we see the work, the heart, and everything you keep giving through a difficult season. We are proud of you, and you never have to earn our support with a win.
